Mr. Phillips has more than 25 years of investment management experience. Prior to forming WPGP he was the Chief Investment Officer and CEO for WestAM where he directed the investment strategy and oversaw WestAM's approximately $3 billion portfolio in commitments to private equity funds, real estate, and co-investments. In addition, he was a member of WestAM's Board of Directors. Prior to WestAM, Mr. Phillips was President of Forstmann-Leff International ("FLI"), a multi-asset class manager which under his leadership grew to $9 billion under management, including the establishment of its $2 billion private equity management group. He previously spent seven years with Equity Group Investments, where he formed a leveraged buyout fund ($1 billion) and four real estate funds totaling approximately $2.1 billion, which grew to more than $4 billion in assets. His previous positions include six years as the Chief Investment Officer for Ameritech Corporation, where he oversaw Ameritech's initial private equity investment strategy, managed all asset classes of Ameritech's $15 billion pension fund and was responsible for $800 million in investments in the global private placement market. His efforts at Ameritech were recognized by Institutional Investor Magazine, which selected him as one of the country's top 10 pension fund managers. Mr. Phillips spent his first 10 years in investment management as Director of Employee Benefits for Beatrice Companies. He has an M.B.A. in finance from Northern Illinois University and a B.A. in business from Western Illinois University.
